FFA members attended Leadership Training School last week at Highland. Students participated in several different break-out sessions, one of which was led by the State FFA President, Thaddeus Bergschneider. The State President also visited students at our school with a break-out box activity during 10th hour.

Congratulations are in order for our SEVEN Illinois State Scholars this year! Addison Albrecht, Cora Boop, Morgan Flynn, Lynnea Groezinger, Micaela Miller (not pictured), Isaac Rife, and Evelyn Walters all received this prestigious honor. To be an IL State Scholar, students must perform well on the SAT or ACT and have a high class rank. Typically, State Scholars make up the top 10% of high school seniors in the state.

Sarah Meador from ROE 8 was back today to work with our Elementary teachers on writing learning standards. Teachers mapped out learning standards for composing informative essays and worked with all grade levels to spiral these skills from kindergarten to 5th grade. There were great conversations and lots of learning happening!
A friendly reminder that tomorrow is Picture Retake Day! This is for anyone who needs a retake, was absent on the original photo date, or has moved into the district since August 30. If getting retakes, remember to have your original order with you or you cannot have a retake done. Retake cost is $10. Middle school boys basketball players and cheerleaders will also be getting their sports photos taken in the afternoon. The 8th grade STEM class did an engineering challenge today. They had 15 minutes to build the tallest free-standing structure they could using only marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti noodles. Wesley Haas was the class winner!
